DON’T BUY GREEN BANANAS
I woke up this morning thinking about my Mom and Step Dad. It’s been a blessed season this year spending the holidays with them, my first in over 25 years. It’s hard for me to recollect today where on the planet I was that took me away from home for so long. There were intermittent visits over the years but none of them gave me that sense of family ties that this visit has. That full circle feeling that tells you that your exactly where you should be.
My Mom hasn’t been well and I’ve treasured this time with her. I wanted to book a lunch date with her for next week and she looked at me and just smiled, explaining it was just too far away to give an answer to. I looked at her surprised until she explained what she meant…”Your step Dad tells me everyday not to buy green bananas because we may not be here to eat them when they ripen”…
I just smiled and realized as we get older things do change. Good health is a gift and should never be taken for granted. My parents reaffirmed my beliefs…Today is the gift, that’s why we call it the present.
From now on you will see only ripened bananas in my fruit bowl.

“Endless gift of giving, blessings and love, that’s my Mom”… Es-tee
And some say, “Live each day as if it’s your last”…
Wise words about the bananas… never thought of that…
Well then I thought too.. green bananas could also be a sign of positivity.. LOL .. Not going to argue with my Mom ..she’s had way more experience than I. 🙂

Your folks sound pretty down to earth Estee. Would love to meet them someday. Your call meant a lot and I appreciate that you love beautiful living things.. 🙂 Orchids are my favorite too.Bruno
What a wonderful analogy your mom expressed. It made me smile and appreciate the now. Lol
And best of all if they get to Ripe then you whip up a batch of Banana Bread.
And then you have another reason to stop by Moms place.
Nothing like Home Baking.
