I caught the early morning light in my backyard this morning… all was quiet except for the odd bit of traffic. I watched the chickadee hop and sing from branch to branch and my spirits soared. I walked further down to my creek and I could see a deer completely motionless watching me. I could tell she wanted to take a drink so I stopped moving, we were in complete harmony with each other.
The transition of cold damp winter here on the west coast to Spring is always welcome for me. It allows me to think of that beautiful colourful crocus blanket and snowdrop veil that will soon be popping all over my back yard. There was still frozen ice and I gleefully stepped in it and cracked it like thin wafers. It was fun to pick up a piece and hold it against the light and slowly watch it melt in my fingers.
My dog was enjoying the chase of one of many neighbourhood cats who seem to adore me and my back yard. I looked up on my fence post and there sat the beautiful calico, from where she comes I have no idea. I turned around and there was the mysterious black Persian with sea green eyes. I would of been disappointed if I hadn’t spotted them on their watch.
The honking of a flock of geese drew my attention above me, I stopped and watched their perfect formation and grace. I can set my clock to them three times a day. They’ve never let me down all these years I’ve been on this property.
Gratitude filled my soul, I am one with the universe and connected with all things this morning. All of nature is right here all around me.I thought how everything is complexity built of simplicity and that we are all family.
Nature is a wondrous thing.

Your landscape is beautiful! I’m going to pitch a tent 😉

I almost felt like I was there. What wonderful imagery! I envy you that piece of Heaven, just a little, but am glad it is yours.
Thank you John..
