My Mom has a new lease on life these days. She’s vibrant, recovering wonderfully from her heart surgery ..finally! People are like plants and if they don’t receive love, attention and water they can’t possibly thrive. I like to think I had a little to do with her miraculous recovery this summer. It’s been years since we spent so much time together and both of us have been rewarded with many happy moments. I know People are like plants. If you plant a rose in a shady spot it will struggle. It will be more susceptible to hardship and diseases. It may bloom for you, but the flowers will be small and few. Move it to a warm, sunny spot and watch it grow. Put a fuchsia in that sunny spot and it will shrivel up. Move it to the shade and you’ll get a riot of colorful blossoms. People are like that too.You have to know how to love them and people don’t come with a manual!
Today my Mom received her very first Passport in the mail at 82..I helped her fill out her application a few weeks ago and the look on her face today when it arrived was beautiful! She beamed with happiness and a touch of mischief…”Now I’m good to go”..
You GO Mom.. I’m rooting for you!

I’ll never be able to write,
though everything I write
is a poem to my mother”….
