Just imagine being homeless at Christmas. Unfortunately Christmas for many underlines the desperate and dire situation they find themselves in. I like to think this season could be about hope and an extraordinary city full of caring people...
HOMELESS
Eyes worn and hopeless
Haunting flecks of puzzlement.
Do not gaze on me superior
Your world too may wither.
This wilderness of hunger
Pain and freezing present.
Shadowed past and deadened embers
This homeless menaced paradise.
Forgotten loves and doomed ideals
Hang bitterly in my mind.
So easily I arrived here
This saddened castle of frugal honor.

Reblogged this on Shania's song..
I think about the billions of dollars that are spent on Christmas. Especially on Black Friday. Why isn’t any of that money used to help homeless people?!!
You are so correct Catherine. And now I am sadly reading that the government is forbidding churches and organizations to feed people so desperately in need. New York city has banned food donations, Houston demanding food permits to feed them. What is the world coming to?
It sounds like the government is trying to wipe those poor people out! It reminds me of the Nazis attempting to create a “super race” by exterminating those that they felt were “inferior.” Have you noticed that when a handicapped person is murdered there is no investigation, no arrests? It’s like Eugenics or something. God is going to judge this nation.-USA-if things don’t change.
One of the best examples I have read of late on how crazy it is all getting is this article. I hope this person did “feed the hell out of the homeless”.http://overstated.net/2003/08/22/please-do-not-feed-the-homeless
Sad.. sad.. sad… now a days we need permits to do almost anything.Govt. bureaucrats have turned our rights into privileges.Politicians continue to hit us with wave after wave of regulations and laws with no end in sight….I know if I cross anyone who has not eaten for days that I will have no hesitation in handing him or her food. Bah humbug to the food police!!!!
Only time will tell whether God is still restraining His judgment or just beginning it. What a heartfelt poem, thank you for sharing.
