au·then·tic·i·ty
- genuineness: the genuineness or truth of something
I don’t want to learn anymore lessons I thought this morning, I’m tired. Being vulnerable is difficult and usually sets ourselves up for exploitation. I’ve never been a guarded person but it does lead to consequences and what I have always thought of as a quality is tell the truth. It has always set a blazing pathway of common ground allowing wonderful things to happen in my life.
I still say ..Let them in even after a shaky start to my 2014. It takes more courage to be yourself these days than not.

“Real isn’t how you are made,’ said the Skin Horse. ‘It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.’
‘Does it hurt?’ asked the Rabbit.
‘Sometimes,’ said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. ‘When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.’
‘Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,’ he asked, ‘or bit by bit?’
‘It doesn’t happen all at once,’ said the Skin Horse. ‘You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.” …..Margery Williams, The Velveteen Rabbit
Estee, my kids love that book. I’ll be reading it to my grandchildren in the near future! Truth is always the best way to go. Take care.
Aren’t the illustrations wonderful?
Being authentic is a rare thing these days. Most people live their entire lives never finding their authentic self. They never find the person they were meant to be, nor do they develop themselves to their greatest potential. When you live an authentic life, you are living the life that resonates with your inner being. It’s taken me a long time to get here and I’m old! Love you and your authentic self, you made it to the home plate long before I did. Brava sweet lady. Greeting from Jack in France. I have two more months and I hope you feel sorry for me.
Jack, I feel very sorry for you.. 😉 thank you!
Thanks so much for the painting! It has a high profile spot in my office 🙂 It does take courage to be yourself these days and the ones who can’t take it are not worth knowing! BEEE well and happy. I still hope to see you sometime. ?!
Hi Bruno…. Happy that you liked it! I’ll paint horses any day… riding them might be another story!!!
Estee, I look forward to spending time together “commiserating” and sharing. “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” Good think I love lemonade! If you have a day you are having to come “to town” give me a call and come for coffee, tea or lemonade!
Oops, I meant, Good thing I like lemonade. My “thinker” is being affected by the pain killers!
Thank you Sheila.. look forward to it!
