Feeling like a spirit of the earth as I looked around my patio garden and felt real pride that I could turn such a small space into a beautiful personal oasis that gave me so much pleasure these past few months. Looking around at the concrete walls that lie to both sides of me in the form of high rise condos I have been able to forget they even exist. I’ve plucked beautiful carrots, radishes and lettuce delighting in my own salad greens this summer. It’s hard to express the real pleasure that comes from biting into your own garden efforts. Again reinforcing my thoughts that size does not matter, we can have our bounty wherever we are. A wasp nest so huge on the patio roof didn’t bother me in the slightest and I’d sit and watch with fascination their busy lives. They ignored me as they went about their business.
I am packing and saying farewell to this place I have temporarily called home for these past few months. My hummingbird family I will miss, as they are a huge part of my day. My desk faces their feeders and there have been times they have flown right into my office as if checking on me and flying back out. So I sit and reflect and wish my feathered friends a fond farewell.
