It’s incredible to watch the salmon spawning and I wondered how many hundreds or even thousands of miles they had traveled in their lifetime. They make an amazing upstream journey fighting so many obstacles that humans have created along the way so they can spawn in the same place that they were hatched. For many of these struggling salmon it was their first time here but others it’s quite possible they have been here many times before.
What a beautiful and dramatic chapter in a complicated thread of events that involve many creatures of the forest, stream, air, and sea, and the forces of nature all combined.
