When planning my garden I have always kept the key elements needed to provide to wildlife… food, water, cover and a place to raise their young. Birdbaths, flowering plants, bee and bird houses have given me considerable joy in my wildlife-friendly yard.
I happily watched this busy bee .. beautifully speckled with golden drops of pollen picking up the morning sun. Not to be left out was this other little beauty, a quarter ounce of jeweled ferocity.
I feel grateful to begin my day surrounded by such magic and peace.

“There is one masterpiece, the hexagonal cell, that touches perfection.
No living creature, not even man, has achieved, in the centre of his sphere, what the bee has achieved in her own: and were some one from another world to descend and ask of the earth the most perfect creation of the logic of life, we should needs have to offer the humble comb of honey.”
