Henry David Thoreau once declared, “In Wildness is the preservation of the World.”…I wondered about the wild life and habitat loss destroyed in all these fires and everyday there are fewer places left that wildlife can call home. I am missing the singing of birds these past couple of days in my garden haven…. it feels lonely without them. I’m not used to having my home smell like a smoke pit either.. I pray that these fires will be brought under control soon and evacuated families, fire fighters remain safe.

“But clouds bellied out in the sultry heat, the sky cracked open with a crimson gash, spewed flame-and the ancient forest began to smoke. By morning there was a mass of booming, fiery tongues, a hissing, crashing, howling all around, half the sky black with smoke, and the bloodied sun just barely visible”…Yevgenu Zamyatin

Climate change is rearing its ugly head everywhere. We got some of your smoke as far down as Chicago. It’s just the beginning of what I hope is not the end.
