On this Thanksgiving Day I think of my Mom who called me a couple of days ago to tell me she was going shopping. I asked her what she was needing and she told me she wanted to buy a small gravestone for herself. Nothing fancy mind you but just a reminder to those left behind that she actually existed. I told Mom that she had left a fingerprint of love on so much and she would continue to exist long after she was gone in the real sense. She could always bring calm into chaos, turn a house into a home and any meal into a feast. Gratitude makes complete sense of our past. And as a close friend told me who tried to inject some humor into Mom’s shopping spree this week she said .. ..”while some of us are shopping gravestones, there are others out there shopping baloney”.
There is always something we can be thankful for today.. It turns what we have into enough and more.

“Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity: it must be produced and discharged and used up in order to exist at all”….William Faulkner
Your Mom has touched my heart on more than one occasion. A feisty down to earth kind of woman. She has a great daughter too!
