It’s remarkable how scents can take you right back to a moment in time and you are re living it in every sense of the word. That’s how I felt this morning when I finally unpacked a carton that has been tucked away for years in my storage. The smell of oil paints entered into me like breath into my lungs, it filled me up, imbuing me totally with fresh inspiration. There is no remedy for it.
My French easel that I had bought over 20 years ago, I had forgotten how beautiful it was in it’s aged beech wood and brass-plated fittings in the tradition of fine cabinetry. It’s definitely a design that has stood the test of time.
My painting does not come from the easel but it sure helps.
