It’s hard to explain how it feels when you are used to having roses all around you and suddenly you no longer have the pleasure of having a garden full of them, casting their beautiful shadow of radiance all around. This summer I can say that once again my world smells of roses. It’s been a long and windy road to get here…The red ones especially seem to pick up an eerie glow tonight from our smoky skies and sun, it reminds me that our forests are on fire and there is no time to grieve for roses.

“It seems strange that my life should end in such a terrible place, but for three years I had roses, and apologized to no one.”

Smoky here too Estee. . Stay inside! Dev.
Hi Estee.. I hope those fires get under control soon, it is a heartbreak for all.
In my garden when I had a house, I had managed to get to 78 rose bushes before I sold the house, hitting a 100 was my goal. Ontario winters can be brutal on roses but I always protected them and replaced any that died, with a new one.. miss the sweet fragrance along with their outstanding beauty, my favourite one was called SATCHMO (after Louis Armstrong) it was a brilliant very tall red velvet with a fragrance that would make you swoon, if you kept your nose in hits petals for too long, wonderful memories.
ahhh… a fellow rose enthusiast…you totally get it!! …
